This is the barrel/ harness system I have. It is top of the line. The harness works as a good backpack for short distances. The barrel is a 50 L barrel so it holds a lot of gear. I use it as my storage barrel for most of my gear for after hikes in my basement. It will float if it falls over board. This barrel is 100% essential for this trip. The SealLine Dry Bags bags, or anything else that you don't want in with your barrel. I had my camping fuel and stove in one so that my clothing and food that was in my barrel never smelt like gas. If the gas leaked I didn't want it to ruin the food etc...The barrel and harness combined retail for approx. $80 CDN. The SealLine bags will retail between $13 and $32 US depending on size. I am confident that we are used for sleeping can find deals on the net that would help us get this stuff even cheaper. The only other gear that you bring on this trip is tent, sleeping bag, boots, sandals, rain gear, warm night gear, swim suit, convertible zip off pants, rain tarp, stove, gas, rope, fishing pole and tackle. Most of the stuff we all have, or could stand to have upgraded for the next trip anyways (like rain gear).
The canoe circuit is an actual loop. It goes around a mountain range. You park your car, start the trip and finish your trip all in the same area. Here is the map of the trip.As you can see the "gear up" part of this trip is minimal. The canoes are provided for us along with paddles and life jackets. Here are a few pictures to wet your appetite. Let me know what you think. I am up for anything, but I know that this is a fun trip and would be a good way to spend 5-7 days in the great outdoors.

This was at the ranger station getting ready to go. We had rain right when we got there.

You hit the portage right out of the gates. You can see how the wheel system works. The trails are well groomed and wide. If there is rain the trail becomes muddy and can be slippery, but it is still manageable.

The scenery is amazing. The water is often like glass with Loon's calling. It is an amazing place. The mornings are incredible.
This gives you an idea of how the canoe is packed. The barrels go in the middle along with the packs, and wheel system. There is a person in the front and the back.
This was a lunch pit stop along the way. The nice thing about canoes is that you can literally pull over any where and have lunch or go to the bathroom. One of the many connectors between smaller lakes.

The campsites are nice. They order off the tent areas and then rototill the ground so that it is nice and soft. Not WCT style.
This is your living room for a week.
There are lots of little inlets and areas to swim and get clean. It rained almost every day I was there and I had the YM with me and it was still a fun trip. We went over July 4th holiday. I have heard that June is a good month to go because the water is high. It would probably make the fishing good. Let me know what you think.
